Korea and China hold pivotal positions in the Asian cultural content market, with the drama industry serving as one of the most representative sectors reflecting each country’s cultural identity and industrial strategy. Korea has led the global drama market through a creative ecosystem that supports writercentered storytelling and flexible production models within a relatively autonomous, private-led environment. In contrast, China has expanded its domestic drama industry under a state-led framework, leveraging its massive domestic market, regulatory control, and platform-based infrastructure. This study aims to establish a theoretical framework for analyzing the comparative dynamics between the Korean and Chinese drama industries. First, it outlines the necessity of this research by addressing the evolving landscape of the cultural content sector in East Asia. The purpose of the study is clarified in the context of increasing interdependence and competition in global content markets. Subsequently, the paper introduces the methodology and data sources used in the comparative analysis, along with a discussion of the scope and limitations. By presenting this analytical foundation, the study provides a structured approach to investigating how each country’s industrial structure and global strategy have shaped their respective drama sectors.

본 연구는 한국과 중국 드라마 산업의 구조, 제작 방식, 정책 지원, 창작 역량, 문 화적 영향력을 비교 분석하였다. 한국은 민간 주도의 창작 시스템과 글로벌 OTT 협 업을 통해 세계 경쟁력을 확보한 반면, 중국은 국가 주도의 규제 속에서 한국의 시 스템을 벤치마킹하고 있다. 문헌 및 사례 분석을 통해 한국은 외주 제작, 작가 중심 구조, 장르 다양화, 해외 확장이 핵심으로 나타났으며, 중국은 OTT 중심 자율성 확 대와 동시에 이념 검열이라는 한계를 보였다. 한국 드라마는 중국에 포맷과 내러티 브 등에서 실질적 영향을 끼쳤고, 협력 사례도 존재하나 외교 갈등과 검열 강화는 제약 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 향후 양국은 공동 제작과 문화 교류를 통한 상생 모 델 구축 가능성이 있으며, 제도적 기반 마련이 필요하다. 본 연구는 한중 드라마 산 업 비교를 통해 지속 가능한 협력 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
