The main purpose of this work is to grasp and explore contemporary implications for culture-and-art-led urban regenerations and class problems through the case analyses of Busan and Changchun. Within the socio-historical context of the urban regenerations as such, there are, as a matter of fact, nothing more important than dialogues that articulate between the power of imagination and practice intrinsic to culture and art, and that of philosophical criticism. With the aid of the dialogues, both powers can be more abundant, through which the contemporary social agenda of ‘creative place making as an urban community’ can also be transformed into a driving force to overcome the evils of gentrification. Moreover, as the process is carried out step by step, contemporary cultural practitioners can seek solidarity to assert their rights to the city in a far stronger way. All the discussions taking place throughout the work, including the two examples of Busan’s Ttottattoga and Changchun’s ‘Mudan Street’, are designed to support the above-mentioned argument. One thing not to be forgotten: “Towns tell us of the almost total decomposition of community, of the atomisation of society into ‘private’ individuals as a result of the activities and way of life of a bourgeoisie which still dares to claims that it represent ‘the general interest’.” as Lefebvre suggests.

이 작업의 주된 목적은 문화예술 기반의 도시재생과 계급 문제에 대한 현시대적 함의를 부산과 창춘의 사례분석을 통해 도출하려는데 있다. 실지로 문화예술 기반의 도시재생이란 역사사회적 맥락에서 문화예술의 상상력 및 실천력과 철학의 비판력을 절합하는 대화만큼 중요한 것은 없다. 그 대화를 통해 서로는 한층 더 풍요로워질 수 있고, 그 풍요로움을 통해 ‘도시 공동체로서 창조적 장소 만들기’라는 현시 대의 사회적 의제는 젠트리피케이션의 폐해를 극복하는 추동력으로 변모할 수 있다. 그뿐만 아니라 그 과정을 차근차근 밟아갈 때 현시대 문화실천가는 비로소 도시에 대한 자신의 권리를 더욱더 강력하게 주장할 수 있는 연대를 도모할 수 있게 된다. 그리고 이 모두는 시민 자신의 힘으로 더 정의로운 도시를 가꿔나갈 수 있는 토대로 작동하게 된다. ‘또따또가’와 ‘무단거리’의 두 사례를 포함해 지금껏 이 작업에서 해 왔던 논의 모두는 바로 이 같은 주장을 뒷받침하도록 설계된다.
