While studying Chinese, we often encounter geographical names in our readings. In par ticular, historical place-names are often unfamiliar to us. Meanwhile, even if the geograph ical names in the readings are the same as those in the modern era as we know, we can not say for sure that it is the same place of the same name in modern times. This is be cause geographical names are often changed over time. It is required to verify that the g eographical names in the literature are the same as those in the modern era. If it’s anyw here else, we’ll check where it is, as accurately as possible. This bibliography contains re search materials to help address these issues. This contains as follows; historical places, historical atlases, cartography, cities, local gazetteers and local histories, geography in the dynastic histories, modern atlases, and foreign place names mentioned in Chinese writings.

중국학을 연구하는 중에 문헌 속에서 종종 지명을 마주하게 되는데, 특히 역사적인 지명 (historical place-name)은 낯선 경우가 많다. 한편, 설사 문헌 속의 지명이 자신이 알고 있는 현대의 지명과 동일하다고 하더라도, 그 곳이 과연 정말 현대의 지명에 해당하는 곳이라고 확언할 수는 없다. 왜냐하면 시간이 흐르면서 지명이 바뀐 경우가 왕왕 있기 때문이다. 이에 문헌 속의 지명이 현대의 지명에 해당하는 곳과 같은 지를 확인하여야 하고, 다른 곳이라면 그 위치가 어딘지를 가능한 한 정확하게 확인하고 지도 에서도 위치를 찾아 확인해 볼 필요가 있다. 이에 본 문헌목록은 중국학을 연구하는 중에 마주하는 지명과 장소의 기초적인 확인을 위한 공구서, 역사적 지명과 위치 확인을 위한 중국의 역사지도, 지도의 역사적 연구, 도시와 지방의 지리와 역사 등을 기록한 문헌 및 지방지, 역대 역사서의 지명색인, 현대의 중국지도 및 중국문헌 속의 외국지명과 연구물 등을 순서로 하여 선정함으로써 필요한 경우에 해제를 보탠 것이다. 이 목록을 통해 중국학 연구를 위해 필요한 참고문헌목록으로 학술정보를 열람하고 확인하기에 편리한 도움을 제공하면서 학문적 데이터베이스 역할을 하리라 기대한다
